Saturday, March 16, 2002 3:52 PM RIGHT IS RIGHT I am outraged, and greatly saddened, at the news of our government's failure to acknowledge the millions of homosexuals in this country as equal and able persons. If a man can be such a great hero, shouldn't that be it? He's a HERO, saving many many lives by giving his own. Now that it is known that a hero is GAY, he is somewhat less of a hero than others who helped save lives on that fateful day, a day we will not soon forget. I am outraged, as a person living in this country, where our freedoms and rights are garunteed (if you fit the mold, apparently), and I am also outraged a person living in this country who happens to be homosexual, to know that acts of courage and sefllessness are to be judged and torn apart and devalued on the basis of someone's sexual orientation. The families of those who were killed on September 11 will never get their loved ones back. And it will no doubt take a long time for the lives of these people, as well as millions of other Americans, to return to a somewhat normal existence. The least that this country can do is compensate all those deserving of it in the same manner, equally and fairly. LOVE is LOVE and FAMILY is FAMILY. IT DOES NOT KNOW BOUNDARIES SUCH AS THOSE PLACED ON IT BY THE LAWS OF A FEW MEN. TREAT THOSE FAMILIES EQUALLY. Have you thought about how those heroic people's actions have affected your lives? Must an individual's personal life come into the picture when determining the value of that person's actions, for that matter the value of his or her life???? The right thing must be done.
