comment from taxpayer.. not a claimant

I initially supported the idea behind this fund, but what's surfacing now is greed on the part of many victim's families.

I'd like to make the following points

1. No-one can be compensated with Money in a manner that will comletely alleviate the horror of losing a loved one in the Sept 11 attack. I hear the victim's families over and over saying publicly, $XX is not enough, etc. No it isn't and it won't be.

2. US Taxpayers are giving this money out of concern and love, not because we OWE it to the survivors. We have situations now where Mothers of victims for instance are demanding payments, when there is no financial disruption at all to their lives. THis is dishonorable and greedy.

3. Families that were making $25,000 per year (by one report) are complaining that $1.6 million doesn't compensate. We should feel sorry and sympathy, but we shouldn't make someone rich over this loss.

4. The government should stick by the ruling and fight it in court that taking the payment negates the right to sue for further damages. I find the posturing of various lawyer associations on this subject disgusting. Enough is enough, and further lawsuits should be banned. Furthermore, a time table should be established beyond which claimants cannot ask for the money. This would encourage them to stop the posturing.

THank you..
