September 11th

I read with great dismay that the survivors of the gay and lesbian
heroes from the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks will not necessarily be in
line to receive compensation from the fund set up to help survivors of
these infamous acts.

I find it unacceptable that some survivors will receive benefits because
of the state laws that pertain to those heroes but that others will not
be acknowledged through this compensation because of the lack of
non-discrimin- ation laws in other states.

Further, I find it appalling that fetuses will be granted full and
unquestionable compensation while living and breathing survivors of gay
and lesbian hero victims will not.

This injustice must not stand! I demand that the federal government
follow the lead of New York State when it comes to the distribution of
compensation funds. I thought these terrorist attacks were supposed to
bering everyone together. In reality, division is being created.
