Fairness of funds distribution


Re: distribution of funds for victims of 9/11. I have read that partners of gay and lesbian heroes of September 11 will not necessarily receive the same benefits as the spouses of heterosexual victims of the horrible terror attacks, and I ask for a revision of that policy. I am quite concerned that the policy as is denies basic fairness in the plan of distribution of these funds, if the partners of GLBT people are not taken into account. While I fully comprehend that life is commonly not fair and there is no guarantee of fairness at any level, it is still one of the underlying values of our country that we aim for that fairness.

Finally, I have will not be a beneficiary of these funds, so there is not that particular motivation in writing this e-mail. The concept of equal treatment for all victims' partners is what is important to me. Thank you for consideration of this message.
