Compensation
I believe the compensation initiative is wrong because it sets a bad precedent for future acts and cheapens the value of lives lost in previous acts of terrorism and/or crime. It also cheapens the value of the lives of military personnel who's families receive lower compensation for loss of a spouse or parent while serving the nation. The terrorist acts on Sep 11th were a crime and the victims should be treated like the victims of any other crime.
Consider the fact that the young wife of a service member who dies in Afghanistan will receive Serviceman's Group Life Insurance totaling up to $500,000 (but only IF her husband paid the monthly fee) and a modest survivors benefit payment monthly IF she does not remarry. Compare that with what the government plans to provide persons who simply were at the wrong place at the wrong time on September 11th.
