Fwd: 9/11 Fund to deny gays benefits
Dear Mr. Zwick,
Recently I have seen you on television talking about the September 11th
Victims Fund and I was outraged to hear that the fund that Congress
established is discriminating Gay and Lesbian Americans. Today, I received
an email providing more detail on this fund and that has prompted me to
express to you my concerns.
First, I have to tell you that this decision tears down the statements made
by our Government shortly after 9/11 telling us that we are no longer
hyphenated Americans we are Americans. The tragedies that occurred the
morning of September 11, 2001, were an attack on our entire nation. When
the attacked occurred, as a nation we transcended our differences and
united as Americans. In the days after September 11, 2001, our nation
stood together and displayed to the world that a terrorist organization
could take down buildings; however, they could not break the spirit of
Americans.
The tragic events of September 11th did not discriminate when it took
victims; the fund our Congress has established to help the victims loved
ones should not either.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
