A Letter of Support for the Domestic Partners of 9/11 Gay
Victims from D. Ian Ruiz, Esq.


Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to you as a U.S. constituent as well as a professional member of the legal community. I wish to voice my objection to denying domestic partners the same benefits heterosexual spouses will receive from the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund.

It is cowardly that your department has taken the position not to compensate those domestic partners from states with anti-gay legislation out of fear of maybe being sued! Please seriously reconsider your position out of compassion for all those who are suffering greatly because of their loss on 9/11 and who happen to be gay. Please stop the injustice now, these people have suffered enough.
