Monday, March 11, 2002 12:00 PM Sept 11 compensation fund I am terribly disappointed that the compensation of victims families of Sept 11 attacks is not including partners of lesbians and gay men. Kenneth Feinberg's appearance on March 10 NBC "Meet the Press", where he stated he must follow state regulations, is just a different form of terrorism sanctioned by the US government. Gay men and women have paid the price of not being included in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as long as there have been people on the planet because of discrimination and homophobia. This is just awful, and I have less trust of my government each day I hear about how unfairly it treats people. Sure, the illegal aliens will be compensated, sure the common-law opposite sex partners, sure all of the folks touched by this tragedy, except lesbians and gay men. This policy is inconsistent with our Constitution, and discrimination must stop if we are to ever live in peace. I request that the Sept 11 compensation fund include the partners of lesbians and gay men.
