Friday, December 21, 2001 12:14 PM Victim compensation UNAMERICAN and RIDICULOUS Good morning, I am an American, patriotic and willing to serve my country in whatever way possible. This victims fund is a black mark against our country and every taxpaying citizen!!! Why is our government making millionaires out of victims families??? My mother died of cancer a few years ago on May 31st, since she didn't live until June 1st (2 more hours) her May SS check was revoked. How does one policy match the other. This was a tragic event against our nation and every American, we have joblessness, economic slowdown, investigation costs and other. The RED CROSS and United Way collected $$$$$$$$$$$$ for the victims families, let them compensate, that is what they are for. Our government is not there to make life fair and reward those who lost a relative. Will these people still get SS checks for their children? Will they receive other government benefits already in place? Or will this be a one time and quit asking the government for more handouts deal? I say we have enough programs in place to help the needy and the slack is picked up by our Charities (which has so much money they quit accepting donations for this event)!!!! Why are victims families turning a profit and the rest of the country is suffering????
