By your actions in this case, you have arbitrarily sent the message that the survivors of gays who gave their lives that day are somehow not as important as the survivors of other victims. Since my tax dollars might well end up supporting this program, I want you to know, as a taxpayer, that I am extremely disappointed that you are making such value judgments in this case. One of the most well-known heroes on 9/11 was , a priest who was killed while giving last rites to a firefighter. Few could argue that this man was not the very picture of compassion and selflessness. And, yes, he also happened to be gay. I am sure that my comments are not the only ones you are receiving on this matter, so I hope that my voice as well as the clamor of many others' will force you to reconsider.
