Final Rule
It seems that the "law" is bendable when it comes to illegal aliens caught in the twin towers, but not American citizens who are gay. I believe the surviving life partners of everyone should be equally eligible for benefits.
Please don't dishonor our country in this way. To hide behind "existing law" in the various states is dishonest and cowardly. Lacking the legal means to recognize their partners in law, the fund should be looking at the evidence of how they lived their lives: did they identify each other as life partners? Did they have wills? Had they signed up as domestic partners at work, in their city if available? To limit recognition of these relationships to the legal status allowed in the various states is patently unfair.
