Wednesday, March 13, 2002 12:38 PM 9/11 Compensation Fund - Gays/Lesbians excluded Mr. Bush, I am writing to express my outrage at how the 9/11 Victims' Compensation Fund is being handled. Sunday, I watched "Meet the Press" and witnessed the most cowardly exchange from the head of this fund who hid behind state laws to avoid doing the right thing in terms of giving adequate compensation to the gay and lesbian community. Was yours the adminstration that professed to serve ALL Americans? Wasn't COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATISM supposed to be your motto? This fund will distribute money to illegal aliens and fetuses but the heroes who included the on one flight, who helped bring down the plane in Pennsylvania and many others are being left out? Save all the political spinning and cowardly hiding from the truth on this issue please. I see a bunch of spineless bigots who have brought disgrace to our "united" nation. Like and who had the audicity to blame gays for 9/11, the Justice Department and the 9/11 Fund ought to hang their heads in shame. Of course, I now believe that they have no shame. Many in my family, Mr Bush, voted for you and were supportive of you. However, this latest incident sparked a lengthy family discussion and I can tell you that all eleven people involved said that you and your party will lose our votes in the 2002/2004 elections unless you act like the leader of ALL Americans that you claim to be. I expect you to do the right thing and cover the victims and heroes of 9/11 - which includes gays/lesbians and their surviving partners.
