Compensation or More Torture?

Kenneth L. Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs
Civil Division
U.S. Department of Justice
Main Building, Room 3140
950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D.C. 20530

Mr. Zwick,

I am writing to you to address the issue of compensation for all surviving
family members of September 11th. I have just one question: so, only
people who are married under the auspices of the Federal Government, are
grieving and need help? Your proposed policy is unjust and discriminatory.
I really find it hard to believe that in the light of the tragic events of
the 11th that you would really force people to undergo further trauma by
making distinctions between families "worthy" of your assistance and
families who are not "legitimate" in your agency's opinion. I fully support
the strong recommendations forwarded to you by Lambda, ESPA, HRC, GLAD,
NCLR, and NGLTF.

I look forward to your just and compassionate decision.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
Rego Park, NY
