Victim's Comp for All Victims

In an appearance on the Sunday, March 10 broadcast of NBC's "Meet the Press," Kenneth Feinberg, the head of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, said that gay partners of the heroes of September 11th will not necessarily be eligible for the same compensation as heterosexual family members who lost their loved ones.

The idea that gay heroes, such as &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp of San Francisco, and NY Fire Department Chaplain &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp , as well as the &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp on the plane that flew into the Pentagon, will not receive the same recognition as other victims of the September 11th attacks, simply because of their sexual orientation, is sickening. It's as though Ashcroft and the Fund are suggesting that gay Americans did not suffer as much as everybody else on September 11.

I implore you, on behalf of gay Americans and their families, please do what you can to make sure that gays' and lesbians' survivors receive equal treatment in this matter.

Thank you.
