As married, churchgoing parents who do our best to teach our kids fair play, democratic principles and the Golden Rule, we are appalled that you would even consider for one moment cutting off the survivors of gay and lesbian families from compensation. What on Earth can you be thinking, to be so hard of heart as to exclude some of God's children from the distribution of charity in order to advance a narrow political agenda? The terrorists who caused this horrible tragedy in the first place did so because they were stuck in a rigid "Us vs. Them" mentality and it caused them to act in brutal and cruel ways. We expect much better from the civic leaders in this democracy. Please do the right thing and take immediate steps to include ALL surviving children and families in the distribution plan.
