9/11 fund

I am a New Yorker and I live 20 blocks from the World Trade Center. I lost friends in the attacks and all of their loved ones, regardless of sexual orientation, race, religion or any other factor deserve the same treatment as everyone else. The word HUMAN BEING does not narrow its scope to exclude anyone. Neither should the word American. It really upsets me that gays and lesbians are considered less American than an illegal alien. How patriotic should I feel about that...but more importantly how patriotic should the same-sex partners/family members feel who lost loved ones on September 11th?

If September 11 has taught us anything, it's that our patriotism and love of country transcend our differences and unite us all. It would be ironic if the generosity of so many Americans in giving to the September 11th Fund were used to further divide us as a people, and send the message to all that some American heroes are more equal than others.

Please rethink your position and don't add fuel to the terrorists's fire by deciding one person is more valuable than another.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
