In pursuit of fairness

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am outraged that the fund for victims of the
September 11 tragedy will not cover the partners of
gays and lesbian who died that day.

I know that there are many in our country who were
still stuck in old and invalid predudices, but I am
truly saddened to learn that they still exist at your
level.

I fear that this plea falls on deaf ears, but I am
bound by my heart to make it. I have a lesbian sister
and many gay and lesbian friends, and I know that they
are no different from the rest of us in the ways that
matter. And certainly not in the area of family. A
gay/lesbian family contains just as much love,
commitment, and morality as any other family.

Please reconsider your decision in this area.
