January 28, 2002 Dear Mr. Feinberg, On September 11th I lost my fiance &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp , an employee at &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp to the World Trade Center terrorist disaster. We were to be married October 26, 2001. We were in the process of making our wedding arrangements. We had already filed for our wedding license, I had purchased my wedding gown and we had made arrangements for our reception. We were together for 4 years and on September 11th I not only lost my partner, future husband and promises of a family, but financial and emotional support. My loss is compounded by not being recognized by the law as having any kinship to &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp and therefore without any legal rights. &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp life insurance beneficiary papers have been destroyed in the WTC disaster and all benefits by default are to go to his next-of-kin. My future economic survival is questionable. As a group, fiances and domestic partners have fallen through the cracks of the legal system. At this point, it is unclear if The Victim Compensation Fund will recognize the deceased's intentions and give any recompense for my life being thrown into turmoil. I ask that you grant the same rights as family members and spouses to those of us who suffered from this loss to collect from the Victims Compensation Fund.
