I am not surprised that gay people are being discriminated against again, but I always hope that someday, someone will stand up for what is right and make it so. I thought all people were created equal and that our founding fathers incorporated this concept into our constitution because they abhorred governmental intrusions upon their personal lives. I don't believe they were referring only to religious persecution. It's a shame that people haven't been able to incorporate this concept into all their thoughts relating to all the personal freedoms that we should all be able to enjoy. Anyway, it seems that gay people are not equal when it comes to helping those affected by the attacks on September 11, 2001, even when they gave up their lives to save others or were killed along side "straight" people. It seems that only straight people are equal. It saddens me to think that so many people haven't evolved past the primal urge to attack and destroy that which they do not understand. I wish all people could embrace diversity and rejoice at the complexity of all God's creations. The 9/11 fund is for everyone who suffered as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Not just straight people. Not just white people. Not just Christians. ALL PEOPLE!! I respectfully ask that you treat all victims of the attacks equally. Set up your criteria equally without bringing biases into the mix. Be fair with everyone and even though your religion or other beliefs tell you that homo-sexuality is wrong, I implore you to separate those views from you decision making. These funds were not donated with strings attached. Please don't put strings on it now. Be fair to everyone and help those who need it. That includes the spouses of gay people.
