Monday, March 18, 2002 10:38 AM 9/11 unfair to gays As an American, I am appalled that even fetuses & illegal aliens are getting 9/11 compensation for the loss of loved ones; however, you will not compensate partners of those killed in the 9/11 attacks. I am highly concerned that people who have shared their lives in life partnerships (same as marriage for heterosexuals) are not covered. This is America, not Afghanistan or another Mideastern country that balks at diversity and equal treatment of others. I truly believed that I live in a country where myself and others are treated equally. I have been in a 5-year relationship with my partner, . I would hope that if I were killed in a terrorist attack such as 9/11 that she would be compensated for my death. We are spouses. We are together for life. It's about time that all of America understands it, accepts it, and honors it. Please take great measures to compensate those partners & families of gay & lesbian Americans that were taken from us at the hands of terrorism. We are America and we should act like it!!!
