Friday, December 14, 2001 3:55 PM Sept. 11 Compensation Fund Dear Sirs, ALL victims FAMILIES should be compensated without regard to type of family. I lost my wife ( and we did act as husband and wife, though we were not married, for 20 years) at the Pentagon, she was aboard Flight 77and did not ask to die that day. We were going to celebrate our 20th anniversary together on Sept 12th and her 44th birthday on Sept 17th. This was a devastating event in my life. I lost the love of my life, my reason for being. Should I and others like me be penalized because we choose not to be married (and incur the marriage penalty in regards to income tax). I was laid off in April 2001 and she was also my sole source of income. There is no way to express to grief and pain I have suffered since this event. My life has forever been altered and nothing will ever bring my wife back to me. It also seems that the victims on board the flight that crashed into the Pentagon have largely been forgotten. Lost among those killed at the WTC. PLEASE treat EVERYONE fairly, the grief is the same even if they were NOT married. Additionally,awards under this fund should NOT be reduced by collateral funds received. Families of victims should not be penalized for good insurance planning or an advantageous benefit package offered by an employer by having these types of funds reduce the compensation award from the Federal Government. Remember, we have been paying insurance premiums all these years. I don't believe it is fair to penalize us for planning to be able to provide for our loved ones. Thank you.
