Friday, March 29, 2002 3:01 PM Compensation FOR Survivors of Gays Regarding the September 11th attack on our nation: As a U.S. citizen, and taxpayer, I fully SUPPORT paying compensation to the survivors of Gay victims of the attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and those who went down in Pennsylvania. The Federal Government has one job here...and that is to be helpful to the living, and to honor ALL those who lost their lives. Gays and their partners, children, family MUST be afforded the SAME and EQUAL care as everyone else the Federal government has on the list to help. That there would be even a hint of doing anything other than this is outrageous; callous and stupid beyond belief. The government shames all citizens by trying to reduce the value of the lives of one segment of our society. I do wonder if the Vice President daughter had been among the victims in the Towers if the Federal Government would be trying to pull of this shameful discrimination. We are a great and generous nation. The government has no business betraying our legacy now.
