Let's Be Fair

Dear Mr. Zwick,

I have heard that surviving lesbian and gay partners and non-biological children of these partners may be excluded from the Victims' Compensation Fund, which has been set up as a result of the 9/11 disaster. I cannot believe this could be true (gay people grieve as much and have lost as much by losing a a partner as straight people, and certainly their children are as devastated). However, if this represensible idea has any truth to it at all, I urge you and your colleagues to rethink this. Let us not sink to the level of prejudice practiced by the terrorists.
