Victims Compensation
I just want to voice my opinion that what started out as a goodwill gesture
has turned the families of the victims into a greedy bunch. While I feel
that there should be some monetary help for interim use - I, as a tax payer,
do not want to support these families for years to come. That is why we
have other avenues such as "life insurance". I think we are setting a bad
precedence when we value these lives over those of other "ordinary" American
citizens and our active military. We will see ramifications from this that
we as taxpayers will not be able to afford in the future. Sympathy for the
victims is turning to disgust over their greed - this is not good. We need
to stop this before it gets any worse. Give each family a like amount -
regardless of family size or income - but do not make it an extravagant
figure. Does the family of a single person with no dependents really need
$1 million-plus? No amount will bring these people back.
