Does this mean that their loss is not as great as with a heterosexual couple? Or that the need is less? Or that their heroic deeds were tarnished? I'm sure that when firemen helped the injured from the WTC they did not question whether they were gay before accepting their help. Homosexuals and heterosexuals alike died valiently that day as they went about their daily tasks, and partners deserve equal compensation.
