Monday, January 07, 2002 8:15 AM From all of the news stories Dear Sirs, I have read about the victim's compensation being based on earnings. As an American citizen but not one directly hurt by the events of 9/11 I would like as a citizen to say one thing. The Americans and those that lost their families in the World Trade Center disaster have been put through a lot. And like many other American families I donated money to the charities that you are now administering the funds of. I think that even the poorest families should get, especially if they have fatherless or motherless households, just as much if not more money that the rich families. I come from a well off family and I think its high time in this country that the poor be helped. The rich are already rich enough and have all that they need while the poor even in this country go without and in some cases are starving or in need of better nutrition and better funds for education. Please do not discriminate or give less to the poorer families because their parents earned less at the WTC. Instead let the true light of American justice and freedom reign and lift up those with less and let them at least have higher benefits so that there lives can be better in some way, though their lives will never be what they were, than they were before this terrible event. The rich may have more power in this country but they do not need more money than the needs of poor children. I donated money to the WTC relief to do justice and show compassion to the weak and that is what Americans expect from your agency. Thank you for helping the poorer Americans and the poorer people who have never had much and had even more taken from them unjustly.
