Gay and Lesbian partners of those who died on September 11

I am outraged that gay and lesbian partners of those who died on September
11 are not automatically going to receive the same benefits as heterosexual
spouses. Just when I think we have come so far I realize that I as a lesbian
do not deserve the same rights as heterosexuals. My life is not as important
as that of a "straight person" in my nations eyes. As if the pain of losing
a life partner is not as significant as a wife or husband, sibling or child.
I hope that I might see some justice in my lifetime.
