Dear Sir, Ma'am, It has just come to my attention that partners of gays/lesbians killed in the Sept 11 attack are not included on the list of "human beings affected by this killing of thousands of innocent Americans." I am 52 years old and have had to deal with this discrimination my whole life. It isn't easy maintaining a sense of loyalty to a country that doesn't recognize us. We are alive, work, pay taxes, and try to feel as if we are a part of society just like anyone else. The most important part about being a human being is that we have feelings. I'm not sure what many other Americans think but we bleed when we're cut, we cry when we loose a loved one, we have parents, grandparents, and many have children. We are just as much a part of this society as the rest. Isn't it the co-mingling of cultures, races, and lifestyles that has made this country great? Doesn't the idea of Democracy in America say that "all people are created equal?" Or is this just for a few chosen ones? All people affected by the Sept 11 attack should be included in the disbursement of funds, even gays and lesbians. Try to visualize how you feel when you loose a loved one. We feel the same and should be treated like anyone else.
