Compensation Offsets for Insurance, Etc.


Good morning...

Some are complaining that their piece of the victim compensation pie is
being reduced by an amount controlled by any insurance adjustments, etc.
that they receive.

It is entirely appropriate that these adjustments should be made. The
victim compensation program should be based on need, not on some kind of
entitlement. Thus, it is completely appropriate, just, and fair that
government payouts be adjusted for other compensation received so that the
families get the full total amount that the statute says they should get.

Please stick to your guns on this. Don't let yet another worthwhile
federal program get derailed by political correctness.
