Concerns about fairness

Dear Victim Compensation folks:

I am writing to express my concern to you that loved ones of some of the
victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks, based on their sexual
orientation, may be denied their fair share of funds provided by the United
States government . I understand how difficult it might be to verify
relationships that are not yet recognized by all governments, but I urge
your unit to try mightily. People in bona fide dependent or interdependent
relationships often leave behind strong evidence of those connections--joint
tenancy, joint bank accounts, life insurance benefiaries and the like. I
urge your unit in the Justice Department to craft the rules creatively, so
that fraud is prevented, but that all real connections are honored.

&nbsp , believed to be one of the brave passangers that caused his
flight that crashed in a Pennsylvania field rather than the Capitol, was one
such gay man. Honoring his memory, and the memory of other heros of that
terrible day, requires that we set aside preconceived notions of consanguity
to achieve real justice.

Thank you for your attention.
