Discrimination in the 9/11 Fund is un-American
Dear Sirs:
Regardless of that fetuses may receive benefits or that Federal Law will be
overlooked so that illegal aliens my receive benefits, I find deplorable that
the partners of gay and lesbians heroes of Sept 11th may not be treated
equally.
This country is supposed to be about democracy and equal rights.
Haven't our leaders learned about the unconscionable prejudice our society
has shown against its own "subgroups" though out our history, the
Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans, African-Americans?
Wasn't there a time, not so long ago, when women where not even allowed one
of our most precious freedoms: TO VOTE??
Are gay and lesbian-Americans just the "subgroup" of our age to discriminate
against?
Your decision to not apply a common standard for all, and allow state law to
govern distribution is a cowardly way to avoid the issue, or even worse, to
perpetuate it.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
