I had been sleeping on the couch with the TV on. I awakened just in time to see the second plane hit. I thought it must be an advertisement for a movie. There was no way this was real. Then, I realized it was real. My eyes welled up with tears. I screamed out to my sister to get in the living room. She came in and we both just stared at the TV in silence. Trying to understand.We both thought it must have been a weird twist of fate.. 2 planes hitting the towers on the same day. As the day progressed, we realized the truth. The expression Comfortably Numb seemed to fit my life for the next couple of weeks.Back home in Portsmouth, Va., I tried to live my life but I was so drawn to the news. I just watched TV night and day. I cried so many tears. I thought about all the children without mothers and fathers, Freinds and relatives waiting for any news,all the parents who had lost their children, spouses who had no clue if their mate would be found. On the last day at Ground Zero, I cried again. Glad it was finally over, but still very sad for all those who had lost.
