In Riyadh, it was late afternoon and I was driving home from work listening to the BBC world service on the car radio. They said a plane had crashed into the WTC. I thought of a small single engine plane lost in bad weather. But when I got home and turned on CNN, it was much worse. It was then the 2nd plane hit. I stayed up all night watching this horror. I had only moved to Saudi 3 days before, my wife was back in the USA. I woke them up when I phoned and told them what had happened. She was due to fly to Saudi that week, but we delayed for a few weeks.
In the days to come, I would learn of 3 people I knew, who died in this act of terrorism.
