Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was at home, getting ready for work that day. It was a day like any other. I had just gotten my daughter off to school. I sat down to watch some television, when I saw the horror start. I watched as the towers were hit. In front of my own eyes! At first I just watched. Then I realized it was really happening, and I cried. Cried for those that were dying, crying for those families losing these loved ones, and cried for all those in the United States being affected. It was all I could do to go to work that day. The day dragged endlessly without no end. I felt sick for all those around. All day people were coming into the store telling of their own views of what was happening. None seeming to really understand the fullness of the tragedy. I felt the regrets in those that came in with fear of their own loved ones that might be there, and hoping all the time that it would end real soon. One lady came in that day with such greyness to her face. I asked her if I could help ease her pain, and she informed me that her husband was in New York on business. She was trying all morning to get through and find out if he was okay. I wanted to hold her and all the world until the pain went away. But knew that the only thing that I could do was sit numbly by the radio and listen to the horror story being laid out before the world. Them later on that morning it came across the news that Pennsylvania had been attacked to. My heart went through my feet, as I realized that it was close to where my son and grandson lived. I thought I would just die if my family had been killed. The day dragged endlessly as I waited for the end of my work day, and then the ride home to be over. Thanks be to the good lord that they were okay when my husband and I called. Then later on that same day, my daughter came home screaming and crying for her father. When I got her to calm down, I realized that the problem was, was that we needed to find out about her father because he was delivering to the towers that day and might be dead. The fear in her eyes, and the trembling in her voice, sent chills to the bone. When we received the call later that night that he was okay, it was a bright light being shed upon the home. Joyous tears for one life saved, but tears of hurt and anger for those lives lost. We all prayed that night for the lives that had been lost, and for the families around the world not only that had lost loved ones, but had in one way or another been affected by the tragedy. To this day a strange and unknown pain still washes over the hearts of my family as we remember how close we also came to losing fmaily in the senseless slaughter that happened on that tragic day of September 11, 2001, when the world stood still, and we pray every day for the families to be healed one day from the sufferings of that day.
