It was the second week of college and I was sitting in the lecture hall waiting for the chef to begin his lesson. Although it was early morning, the room was filled with noise and excitement. The television in the room was set on a cooking show while we waited for the chef to begin. Just before the class began, a student came running into the room prompting the chef to change the channel to CNN. As the news came on, the entire lecture hall fell silent at what was being put in front of us. The lively spirit of the room quickly flew out the window as we watched the twin towers burn and collapse. Soon after, we were evacuated with the rest of downtown Toronto, to reflect and watch what had just happened.
