Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On this morning my husband had decided to go and visit his best friend at his business. He had been gone just about 10 minutes when he called me and told me to turn on the TV as a plane had crashed into a tower of the World Trade Center. My husband is a retired Colonel in the Air Force and has always been cool, calm and collected. There was in his voice a tremor I had not hear before. As I watched the scene I was in awe of what was happening but when the second plane hit I felt such terror and then empathy for the people in the towers and on the planes. I immediately called both of my daughters and asked them if they knew what was happening. One did and the other did not. I needed to hear their voices and I needed to tell them I loved them. We prayed and hung up. Then when the first tower started to collapse I called my husband and told him to look but he said he was. He said he was coming home, I think we needed to be with each other. By the time he arrived home the other tower was collapsing. I cried and asked why, he was choked up and then he was angry. As time went by and the Pentagon was struck and the plane went down in Pennsylvania I continued to ask how this could have happened and why God would allow it to. Using his military backgound and training he offered thoughts and told of past projects he participated in regarding security and what could happen. He had no answer about God. Even though I had no family or friends killed in these terrorist attacks a part of me has an empty place for all of those who are no longer with their family and friends in the flesh. My husband has shed tears, as I have and thinks in terms of an eye for an eye. He also watches closely how we handle the safety of the USA. All in all neither he nor I will ever think that America is untouchable by those who hate what we stand for. But we also know we must stand together to keep this country strong, the terrorists will not win.
