911DA Story: Story

I was driving my son to daycare and I had the car radio on. Our radio station is notorious for their silliness and pranks during the morning shows, so when I heard the news I thought it was fake. When I realized that it wasn't I got to the sitter's house fast. I remember bursting through the door yelling "What the heck is going on?!" By the time I got to work I was scared, upset and confused. That night I just rocked my boy and cried while I watched the news. He was only 9 months old. "What is he going to have to grow up in?" I kept asking myself, or "Is he going to get to grow up at all?"
I was scared for him and prayed that this would be the end of what seemed like just the beginning of a nation-wide attack, possibly nuclear. I'm afraid my son, and his peers, will grow up in a war-torn world with the attitude that this is normal. All we can do is pray and hold fast to the dream of peace.
