911DA Story: Story
I dropped my son off at high school and returned home to the television still on, telling us that something had happened. A plane had flown into the World Trade Center. All the world seemed to believe it was an accident of horrible magnitude. As I flipped through the channels, my oldest son called me from his home. All he could say was, "What is the matter with these planes, another one just crashed." It's mind boggling, and, yes, quite heartening to know that he, as well as many people nation-wide could not fathom such destruction could be brought against others intentionally. Not only lives were lost that day, much innocence was lost. Just like the parent who tears up when dropping their child off for their first day of school, knowing that they are growing up a little that day, we mourn the loss of innocence that helps us all to be trusting, probably naive, individuals.
