I attend school at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond Kentucky but I am originally from Hamilton Ohio. On Septemeber 11, 2001 I didn't have class until 12:30 so I was in asleep when the first plane crashed into the first tower. My roomate came running into my bedroom crying and screaming saying that the world was coming to an end. I quickly got out of bed and turned on my television and began to cry with her. Richmond was a mess, we have an army depot here that hosts many toxic gases that if every released would kill everyong in Richmond in less than twenty minutes. We have evactuation routes and everything protecting this depot. Everyone in the United States was taking extra precautions that day and so was Richmond. There were planes everywhere portecting the depot and all of the local guards were called in. My parents were vactioning in the Outer Banks of North Carolina at the time and I remember I couldn't get a hold of them. All I kept thinking was is this really the end of the world. For a few days after the attack it did feel like it was the end of the world. But I will have to say that everyone's pride in America began to show bright and it takes something like this to pull a nation together and even though what happened was the most devasting thing I will ever experience I am so happy to be a part of this nation and I am so proud of the American people for pulling through such a hard time. My thoughts, prayers, and hope go out to all those who lost loved ones.
