911DA Story: Story
I was at work at 6:00 am when a co-worker came in and told us of the events as they began. We had no TV but turned on the radio and listened as the towers were hit, fell, and as the Pentagon was hit, and the plane in Pennsylvania crashed. It was hard to imagine the devastation listening to the radio without seeing the images. The reporters, however, were in an almost panicked state and we could only visualize what was happening. I work 5 blocks from the state capitol building and we were sent home about 9:00 am. I immediately went to get my four year old daughter and even she understood what had happened when she saw the images on TV. This year, I reminded her what happened a year ago today, but I won't allow her to watch TV. I can't bear to watch myself. My heart goes to all the families and to the children who no longer have a mom, dad, or both. Peace.
