Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My heart is heavy today...one year later...9-11-02. This is my story of how I was deeply effected by a nation's tragedy that was so many thousand miles away from me, yet it hit home like nothing I've ever felt before. I was getting ready for work, and I was listening to the local news on TV. I heard them talking about the World Trade Center and how it was on fire, so I stopped getting ready for a moment to watch the TV. I then saw an airplane fly directly into the World Trade Center?! WOW, I thought to myself, was that real? Did that just happened? Was it a replay of a movie or something? I wish that's what it was, but the reality of it soon set in and my heart sunk. I was in shock and could not believe my eyes, I was scared. I later learned that terrorists had planned an attack on America and that other planes had been hijacked as well. It was all so sad. So many innocent people had lost their lives that day. Even though I did not know any of those people who died that day, I felt as if I knew all of them, and I felt so bad for all of the families and friends who had lost their loved ones. I couldn't believe that it had effected me so deep, and a part of me had died with them. One year ago today, marks the anniversary of these tragic events that rocked my world. I will always remember those people who became our heros, and gave their lives to save another. My heart is heavy today, but knowing that everyone from across the country came together and united as one, gives me strength. I love this country! May this day and everyday be a day of remembrance.
