<text>I watched from my classroom as the future with the man I loved crumbled to the ground. He was inside. He was there. He went to work that day for Eurobrokers and never came home.
I was teaching a class when a student, whom I will never forget as long as I am alive, raised his hand and asked calmly,"Miss McCourt, are those buildings on fire?"
I looked right at him and said ,"No, no I think it is just the smoke from the nearby factories blowing in front of the buildings." I don't think it really registered that they were indeed on fire. I went into shock immedeatly. I ran out of my classroom to try to enter another room to get a different perspective, to assure myself of what I thought was an optical illusion. I ran right into my friend that taught two doors away. She simple said "Two planes..!" I ran. I ran to the office and I called Eurobrokers. It was busy. I called his cell phone. I got his voice mail message that reflected his cheerful nature. I ran out the front door of the school, I don't remember if I told anyone I was leaving, I just left. I went home ten blocks away to wait. I called my brother in Boston and told him to try to call for me, maybe his lines were working. I called my mother at work and she said, " Don't worry , he WILL get out and we will all be able to go out for your birhtday on Friday like we planned."
I waited all day and night and I never heard from him.
I was told bits and pieces that day concerning where exactly he was at what time, but I don't know for sure. All I know is one minute he was working and planning our future together, and the next he was gone. Gone. No time to say goodbye. I found out two days later that he was planning to propose at the end of September.
I am so fortunate to have met a soul like that of Mario Nardone Jr., and to have shared such wonderful and profoundly meaningful times with him. I miss him terribly and hope that his memory will live on in the hearts of so many, as he touched so many while he was here with us.

I LOVE AND MISS YOU ALWAYS MARIO, LOVE MEGAN
