911DA Story: Story

The morning began as usual as we all make our routine drive in to work. I was settling into my office when our executive secretary was practically running down the hall informing us that one of the planes had hit one of the Twin Tower. At first, I thought it was some mistake for I thought how could that be possible. I remember we quickly ran to find a radio and got on the internet. It was horrifying to hear as the events unfold before our eyes. We felt hopeless like a sitting target not knowing if we were going to be next. At about 11:00a.m. I went downstairs to the lobby of the building...people were everywhere, some running, some walking quickly, trying to get out of the building and out of the parking garage as fast as they can. I walked over to the glass window facing Smith Street...cars were lined bumpers to bumpers but nobody was going anywhere. People were honking their horns, fire trucks were trying to make their way through by sounding off their horns but people stuck at a stand still.

I've always believed in God and in the power of prayers and I prayed to God to get us through this for this was a day in which none of us would ever forget. It was as though time stood still.
