911DA Story: Story
On September 11,2001, I got up around 6:00am thinking it was going to be a normal day. Once I got to school, my friend came up to me and told me that there was some plane crash in New York. I was concerned, but I didn't realize how big of a crash it was. It wasn't until I got to my third period class that I heard that the plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Centers. I couldn't believe it.
Throughout the day, I didn't hear anything about it at school. Once I got home, I turned on the tv to find that it was on almost every channel. I thought it was terrible that someone would attack America like that, and I was sad for all the people who lost their lives.
It was weird for me, because in 1998 I visited New York and went into the second Tower that was hit. I remember being really frightened that something would happen, because it was such a tall building. There was even a small fire in the restaurant there, and they shut down all the exits so, in the event that the fire would spread, it wouldn't go far.
Once I saw the news footage of the people in the burning building, and the people falling out of the windows 110 stories up, I remembered how scared I was just when the exits were closed. I can't even imagine how terrifying it was to be in those buildings. I have a huge amount of respect for the firefighters who willingly went into the buildings to save people.
September 11, 2001 was a very horrible, memorable day. It's definitely a day that I will never forget.
