911DA Story: Story
I had just purchased a new set of headphone for my Walkman - it was about 6.00 am PST. I decided to listen to the radio. Something about a terrorist attack - was it real, or was I listening to a radio play?
I changed the station - Federal ground stop. I walked over to the Southwest Airlines gate and asked them if we were flying - they said yes. I asked for a refund. I didn't think I was going to make it to Portland, OR.
My brother, I had to call my brother - he lives in New York - and works near the World Trade Center. I call, and call - no answer. I did not know it at the time, but he had been in the World trade center when the first plane hit his tower. Finally he answered. He was on a boat - heading to Staten island.
I was glad to talk to him - and then deeply saddened. I went back to the office. We decided to work as normal. My next meeting was at the offices of a defense contractor.
