911DA Story: Story

September 11th 2001..Started off like any other day. I went to work in Bayridge. A co-worker came in and she had a horrified look on her face. I asked her what was wrong..she told me a plane had just hit the World Trade center. I though oh my god..what a horrible accident! I turned on the TV and watched, as much of the nation did. When the second plane hit I knew we were under attack. I called my father who works in downtown Manhatten and I started to cry. I couldn't believe this was happening. From there on it had just got worse. I heard that there were other hijacked planes and then the pentagon was hit. It was all so sureal. It felt like a nightmare. I then tried to reach my husband because I knew that he was going to be leaving. He is in the Air Force I knew that we were a country at war and he would be needed to defend our freedom. I couldnt stop crying. I just wanted to be home with my family and cherish them. My heart ached for those who were on the planes and on the floors where the planes had hit. Then the towers fell...our city would never be the same. So many innocent people died that day. The fire fighters who rushed in to the burning towers try to save lives and the police who tried to help also. They are true heros. I will never forget the feeling I had that day and I will never forget the men and women who died so tragically. The cowards who did this will pay and we will rebuild. They can never take our spirit and freedom will prevail. God Bless the victims and their families. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!! We will never forget.
