911DA Story: Story

I am a thirty year old, father of two. On September, 11, 2001, I had just driven my children to school and arrvived back at home. When I entered my house, I saw my wife sitting on the bed watching T.V. ( This was unusual) She told me what had happened, that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I sat down and couldn't believe what I was watching. I was watching when the second plane hit, it was the most ubelievable things I could think of. My first thought after it happened was to get my children out of school. I had two immediate concerns, one is that we live very close to a number of nuclear power plants, and two that I wanted to see them and make sure that they were ok. I called the school, and was told that everything was ok. That morning I spoke with almost all of my friends and we talked about what had happened. The closest I can analogize it to was when we started the Gulf War. Later that day, I was at a community college. From the momement, I walked in there was a erie buzz about the place. It was perhaps the first time, I ever saw the whole student body serious. Everyone was talking about what had happened. I overheard 5 rumors from the walk in the building to class. What I found most troubling was that I was around many kids 18 and 19 years old. My first thought was that if this country is going to war, these boys and girls life's are forever changed by 9/11. Some of them seemed to understand that this event had the capacity to change our world.

What bothers me most about 9/11 is how quickyl we have went on with our lifes ( Myself included) 5 years from now, I wonder how we will react to the day?
