911DA Story: Story
My name is Barbara and I was called in to work the morning of 9-11-01, and was told to turn on my television set. I was not prepared for what I saw, as the 1st World Trade Center building fell, I was in shock. I thought to myself I have got to get to my job in Grand Prairie, Texas @ Carter Bloodcare. When I got there, there were people already gathering in front of the door to our Center to donate blood. We had all of our television sets on to keep up with what was happening. That day, I will never forget the Unity and Love shown by all those people, those Americans united to help however they could! Those people waited patiently for 7-8 hours before getting their turn to donate blood in the event of this disaster, all the time those people pulled together to help donors and employees. All of the surrounding Grocery Stores furnished cases of food, and some of the fast food establishments sent food for the donors and staff. Those donors helped pass out food and emptied trash cans as they filled. The whole time, no one complained. I witnessed a Unity like none other! I would like to commend all volunteers for the hard work and long hours they put in to help on a day that no one will ever forget, a day everyone united to get through a day of great sadness over the many families that were broken because some terrorists felt they needed to fly our own aircraft into our buldings to kill Americans for some wicked reason. Thanks be to the Firemen and all those at ground zero, and thanks to President Bush for acting so quickly and being there for us and putting himself in harms way to be with those at ground Zero to provide encouragement, I feel honored and priviledged to have such a President!!!! I love my home, right here in America! God Bless America!!!!
