Last Sept 11 was just another day, at the beginning. I was doing my usual walk to work, only 5 blocks, no big deal. I was relishing the day, the sky was sooooo blue, no clouds, the air was fresh - it was a beautiful day! At about 8:45 I reached Lexington Avenue & 79th Street - just one more block to work when I saw a Police Officer on the street pay phone. That's "odd" I thought, then when I saw that his "vehicle" was one of those little "Pope Mobile" type little scooters that you usually see just driving around giving tickets.....By the time I reached the corner, this Police Officer hung up & RAN to his "vehicle" & sped off, lights & sirens blaring. Again, didn't know those little things even HAD sirens & lights. I know now where he was speeding off too & what that phone call was about. What I don't know is if he made it outa there. I have thought about him every day for the past year & hope....& pray.
