I was shopping with my youngest daughter, when a man came running into the store and said that a plane had just ran into one of the world trade towers, I amoung others said that wasn't a funny joke, he insisted that it was true, by then the second plane was there. I got into my car and drove to where I work (the local police dept) I ran inside they had the news on the t.v., it was true, I think for a few minutes I was in shock, I couldn't beleive it. Then the plane hit the Pentigon, and all I thought was I had to get to my children, they were in school. I went to the school and I made sure they were ok and made the decision to let them stay in school where it was "normal." I came home, when I got here,I found out that the plane had went down with all of the heros on it,then my mother called me and told me that my sister had been in a major car accident and had to be rushed to the emergency room, the cell phone had cut out and she didn't know anymore,s he couldn't get back thru. I tried calling to St.Petersburg, but all of the long distance lines were busy. I tried to log on to A.O.L. to see if any of my family members were on line, it took over 45 mins because the lines were busy. As I waited I prayed that God would protect everyone. By then the towers started to inplode,A.O.L. finally became free and I found out about my sister. She and my niece were saved by seat belts and were going to ok. My thoughts went back to those that were trapped in the building still, as I sat and watched the t.v. I prayed that they would find everyone in an area that had been saved some how. I went and picked up my children and hugged them tight, they had many question that they wanted answered. I tried the best that I could to let them know that everything was going to be ok. They wanted to know how someone could do something that mean. I explained that the person or persons that did this were mean and didn't have a heart. Today on the anniversary of Sept 11, my 8 year old son said, mommy they said they did this because of God, but God isn't mean, HE loves everyone.
I explained to my son that they don't know our God and how HE loves, and how HE protects and how it says in the bible VENGENCE IS MINE SAYTH THE LORD.
My heart goes out to the families of the people that didn't make it out of the buildings,or off the air planes and also to those that did, and are still recovering from that day. I will say this to you, beleive in a merciful God and a loving God, stand on His word, except Jesus Christ as your savior and you will see your loved ones again.
I felt like you did that day, I had a loved one that I thought I had lost or could loose, and the feeling wasn't a good one, but I did put my faith in God and he pulled not only me but my sister and my niece thru also.
